Science Place II Head Start kicked-off the Week of the Young Child celebration with a balloon release and pep rally featuring the Madison High School Band. After the children were entertained, they explored the different instruments and met the majorettes. View photos On Monday, April 20th, HSGD hosted a special ribbon-cutting and dedication ceremony for the newly restored childhood development center, now called Roseland Home Head Start Center. The center is an integral piece of Dallas Housing Authority's (DHA) revitalization of the entire Roseland Homes neighborhood, which includes $35 million of new homes, town houses, apartments and neighborhood amenities. Tammy L. Richards, HSHD Board President, MaryAnn M. Russ, DHA President, and Wanda J. Smith, HSGD CEO gave special remarks followed by a Head Start parent testimonial and performance by center preschoolers. WFAA-8 and CBS-11 were onsite for a tour and coverage. The initiative, called DonorBridge, is a new online database that makes mutual connections between nonprofit organizations, donors and supporters.
