Head
Start uses family partnership agreements to record family needs,
establish objectives and measure progress toward meeting the objectives.
The Head Start Electronic Information System to track referrals and
services received.
Family needs.
Parents are given access to community resources in areas such as
emergency assistance, educational opportunities, parenting classes,
employment training and counseling. All members of a household, or any
member considered to be an
integral part of the family’s development, is included.
Staff particularly encourage fathers and other men
in the child’s life to become involved and embrace education for the whole family.
Infants and toddlers. The Early Head Start program, consists
of two sites that serve 98 infants, toddlers and pregnant women.
Homeless children and families. A partnership with
Vogel Alcove
was established in 2005 to address the needs of homeless families with children.
Family-centered substance abuse prevention. Substance abuse staff provide intervention and referral to
substance abuse treatment, and support for affected family
members.
Staff offer training on such topics as
parenting, substance abuse prevention, grandparents raising
grandchildren, internet safety, domestic violence, child abuse, stress
management, conflict resolution and alcohol/drug abuse.
