Volunteerism
Volunteer Once, Give Twice
Our volunteers not only raise money for our organization, they improve the quality of the centers through painting, organizing and landscaping. Volunteers expose the children to different career options when they get involved in the classroom and show them that all people can give back to their communities.
Everyone can find a place to give back at one of our centers. Groups, individuals, parents, high school or college students all help make up our more than 8,000 volunteers. The minimum age to volunteer is 14 years old. Weekend opportunities are available and weekday activities are ongoing.
Volunteer time is important to Head Start because each hour volunteered counts as $13.23 toward our nonfederal goal. A group half –day project can raise a significant amount for our organization. An individual who volunteers at the center for two hours each week can raise $400.00 for the center in just one semester!
Contact our volunteer services department, Community Development, at 972.283.6472 or fill out the volunteer application located below. A mandatory background check is processed on individuals who volunteer inside the center.
